Medical English

English for Professions - Specialized Elective

the Medical English course is offered as part of Quest’s English for Professions stream, as a specialized afternoon elective that allows students to tailor their foundation studies toward a healthcare career. Students must select the CORE or FOC program for the morning periods.

The course is designed for doctors, nurses, and medical students who need to master the professional vocabulary and communication nuances required in an English-speaking clinical environment. By focusing on practical application rather than just theory, the course bridges the gap between general fluency and professional competence.

  • Medical Terminology: Build an extensive lexicon of anatomical terms, diseases, and specialized jargon.
  • Patient Communication: Practice explaining complex procedures, taking medical histories, and delivering diagnosis results in clear, empathetic “layman’s terms”.
  • Clinical Documentation: Learn to write professional medical reports and master the SOAP note format (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan).
  • Professional Interaction: Develop the skills to communicate effectively with colleagues, pharmacists, and lab technicians.
